While performing a Technical SEO audit for the Client’s website, it was discovered that the canonical URLs for their key landing pages were implemented wrongly. The canonical URLs serve as signals to Google to specify pages to be seen in search results, however they were pointing to 404 error pages instead.
What we have done?
- Rectify the canonical URL implementation by providing the correct canonicalization markup to the developers
- After rectification, +14.38% in organic search traffic for the affected pages
